Hamish McKenzie is an independent journalist with a background in technology and startups. In recent years, he has been the lead writer for Tesla Motors, an editorial advisor to Kik, a reporter for the tech blog PandoDaily, and a freelance journalist covering everything from the World Beard and Moustache Championships to the world's most comprehensive face transplant.
His work has appeared in a wide range of international publications, including Reuters, the Guardian, the South China Morning Post, the Globe and Mail, the Toronto Star, CNN.com, TechCrunch, and the New Zealand Listener. He was a senior editor who helped launch Time Out Hong Kong, where he was also a columnist, and he is the author of Beta China: The Dawn of an Innovation Generation, an ebook published in 2013. His interview subjects have included Sting, John Cleese, Robert Smith, Bret McKenzie, Billy Corgan, Wayne Coyne, Ndaba Mandela, and Cory Booker, among many others.
Hamish is a New Zealander and holds a first-class honors degree in English literature from the University of Otago, and a Master of Arts in Journalism from the University of Western Ontario. He lives in San Francisco.
